Default Flash Flooding!!

So I was on my way home from the office tonight, and it had been raining there for about 15 minutes. I live about 15 miles from the office, and I hadn't been driving but maybe 5 minutes and it was coming down like you wouldn't believe. It's an older road, 2-lanes with not much in the way of lights. For the most of the way home I was doing about 30 MPH and was behind another car. This was good, because they got to find all the big puddles of standing water on the side of the road before I did.

However, a little closer to home, I was on my own, and was coming up to a small dip just before a bridge, and WAM! theres a crapload of water all the way across the road probably at least 8" deep. I was only doing about 20 mph so I didn't feel like I was out of control or anything, but water was going everywhere. I made it through but had to drive through some other spots further up the road with standing water. I turned on the street to get into my neighborhood, and I see 7 or 8 cars and trucks up ahead with flashers on....all stalled out and stuck in the water. Luckily there was an entrance into my neighborhood just before the water got really deep and I was able to make it home. By that time though, the engine was running a little rough, and kinda felt like it wanted to quit. But I let it run for about 10 minutes once I got it under cover out of the rain, and it smoothed back out.

I started watching the football game and the flood warning came across the screen and said that there was up to 5 inches of rain an hour likely for most of the Fort Myers area, and reports of lots of flooded streets all over town.........

Hopefully it'll start in the morning when I leave..........

well it started right up this morning with no problems, and didn't have any problems all day long.........I dodged a bullet I suppose. I brought a buddy by the goodyear shop to pick his truck up this afternoon, and got a quote for some new tires....the Eagle F1s......and it was about $1521 all total with road hazard included.......I know new tires are on the horizon, so I've gotta start making some decisions on what to get.

and I just realized that I'm starting to hijack my own thread........it must be time for bed.....

That's what I worry about when I get caught in the rain.
