Hey- just got an exasperated phone call from a buddy looking for an ECM computer for a 1993, part number 88999216.

try Norman Deaton in Roebuck SC. His number is 864-576-7109
I buy all my stuff from him, he has tons of used stuff stacked up in his shop.

Tell him to open the hood and it's the shiny black box located against the driver's side firewall next to the brake booster . Just kidding I just had to do it.

I have heard but cannot get confirmation on this from GM rep but I've heard that all the reman's were built using a defective part and all have been recalled. As I said I can't get GM to confirm this though.

Try expanding his search. I Think 92 ECMs are compatible with 93's.
Try Ebay. they turn up there once in awhile. I sold two on there.

Wow, just as you figured? Gee, funny and clairvoyant, too.

Cute wagging finger smilie. I'd have used a different finger.

I talked to my contact today, they said GM has them scheduled for release 12/4/06. It was never confirmed or denied this problem existed but they should be available in a couple months.

I have to have mine replaced under warranty again. So I'm just waiting for stock too.

and some members think that just because they've been subscribing to this forum for several years that it makes them better or more knowledgeable than someone who started a year or even a month ago. Some people may be here 10 years or more and still may not know jack. I've had high performace cars for 30 years but just decided to get a C4 2 years ago. Right now I have an E55 AMG as a Family car because there is no American 4 door with really exceptional performance and luxury, so my C4 is just a toy. Some folks just need to chill out and get a grip on themselves. We're all here for the enjoyment of owning this troublesome but fun and classy all American vehicle. It's kind of like having a "bad" girlfriend., you know she's not good for you but she sure is fun to be with
PS: Good luck to vettebuyer finding an ECM.
