I'm sorry to hear about this. Unfortunately this seems to be the way things go when we are operating these very aged vehicles.

You never did say how the radiator job went, seems like you went to test drive and all hell broke loose.

I get depressed when I hear this stuff.

Why are you contacting ZFDoc(Bill) about parts? You really know how to over complicate these problems....

I suggested it before, and I will suggest it again, take a deep breath and start thinking!

In one of your prior threads (I really wish you would stick to one thread for the same basic issue/problem, this concept makes it damned near impossible to follow), I gave you the right answer for your clutch.

It won't cost 1000.00...

1996 LT1 Camaro Flywheel-----------------10125379[GM]~$200
** Considering the amount of machining, perhaps a used LT1 flywheel would work? Waste not want not... DRM no longer sells these, they haven't for about 4 years now.
1996 LT1 Camaro Disk---------------------12551309[GM]~$200
1996 LT4 Corvette Pressure Plate-----------10222083[GM]~$250
1996 LT4 Corvette Pressure Plate Bolts (6)-10079898[GM]~$20
ARP Flywheel Bolts (1 inch long)------------200 2802[ARP]~$15

Clutch Conversion

Now, in his text, he makes reference to the vibration... when nogo did this, the concept of "match balancing" was new... so ignore his comments on vibration and get the damned thing match balanced.

And please, for the love of God, stick to one thread on the same topic... I know you're stressing and all, but it isn't helping us help you.

Yeah I know I've been there several times. Totally upset because yet another break down and more repair costs.

Well the temps sounded good anyway right !

Just received this from Bill......

I'm not certain but it does sound as if the transmission reverse gear may
have possibly seized up on the main shaft

I still think you can DIY this project. It will save you about $400.00.

you will be surprised how much like the Fbody it IS.

Don't let the car scare you... sure, there are some differences, but focus on the similarities and the differences will come into place.

REMEMBER THIS - IT'S STILL A CAR. It's not the Space Shuttle... a car is a car is a car... everything happens about the same in a Vette as it does in a Camaro as it does in a Ferrari...

The only other thing that bothers me is...i've never ever worked on a tranny...plenty of motors and what not...but never a tranny.....when i looked in my FSM...it was sayinghow i needed all these different kinds of pullers and this and that....so i guess it just intimidated me

Jamie, just attack it like any other car repair that you have done in the past, have no fear, and all will go okay. Like I said before I would help you if you lived a little closer, maybe you can reach out here to someone around you that may come and help as a second head in the project, and things will go easier.

When you get it fixed Jamie, we will have to get together with the wives and meet somewhere and have dinner and some drinks and laugh about it since it will be all over by then, Bogus is right though, a car is a car is a car, you just have to learn how the Vette is put together and comes apart like you did with your Camaro the first time you worked on it. No brain surgery education needed here, you are already mechanically inclined that is all you need, and a good Corvette Manual and/or friends like these here that can help with basically anything that you could come across

Great, we'll be looking forward to it too. If you get stuck on the job somewhere and can't get a hold of anyone for advice give me a call if you need or want to.
