Ever since I got my manual car a year ago the backup lights seemed to work off and on. Sometimes when it was in reverse they would be on and other times they wouldn't. I eventually figured out that if I jiggled the shifter I could get them to come on, so I would imagine that it is a loose connection near the shifter or a faulty switch. Recently this remedy has ceased to work. Do you guys think the switch is bad, or is something coming unplugged? Where is the switch and how do I get to it? Thanks in advance.

Either its a bad switch or it has become unseated. Lift your console up look for a white pluggy plunger looking thing. The blade of the shifter makes contact when in reverse if you cant see it its unseated.
Did you check the bulbs 1st? Lot of the time the bulbs need to be reseated. To check if its the bulbs put in reverse bang on bulb covers do it with key on, car not started
No it's not the bulbs because I could make them turn on by jiggling the shifter. Tomorrow I will look for the switch. Is it easy to get to? Thanks. -Matt
You have to get under the car. It's (the switch) located by the bell housing on the driver's side toward the top. You can't miss it, it's right above the slave cylinder. The switch is about $50.00.
