Water spots
Is there any hope on removing etched in water spots on my paint ? I have tried distilled white vinegar, bug and tar remover, Mothers Polish, Dupont med. rubbing compound and Mothers clay bar. Nothing works. I suspect that I know the answer. Costly paint job ! If any of you experts have an answer, thanks in advance.

Color sanding and buffing should take care of the problem, assuming the paint is okay. Unless you'e done it before, you might want to take it to someone. Still ALOT cheaper than new paint.

I use a synthetic clay bar, Chemical polish, aluminum oxide compund micro polish and that does the trick. If its real nasty, I have some stuff that a private chemist makes that does the trick every time, but dont ask, I dont know whats in it and I cant get anymore of it.

I had the same problem with water spots when I washed the Vette at my sons place in Pa. not knowing they had extremely hard water. 
I waited 'til I got home and used Meguire's products which is a 3 step method.
Step 1 is a product that "cleans" the paint.
Step 2 is a polish
and
step 3 is waxing the car.
I did the entire car in all 3 steps which took me about 7 hours
You could just do the really bad or noticable area's I guess.
Just crank up the rock-n-roll and have fun. Good Luck
