Does anyone know how to get the tail light lenses out of an 84-90 c4? Do you remove the backup lights then reach up through there? Also can you remove the side marker lenses?

Yes and yes.
(I think I also reached up from the bottom). The installation looks nice but not particularly friendly!
There is no easy way to get the lens out, what ever works. If you have big arms it only gets worse. Each lens is held in place by two 10 mm bolts. From the bottom up between the muffler and the bumper, like I said, what ever works. Its been awhile but if you get one out you can reach through the open hole and go from there.Once the bolts are removed they will come out from the front, towards you.
i had a burned out bulb. out comes the license plate, the backup light, the first tail light then the second one.
but it gives you a chance to check out the dirt accumulation behind the tail lights, and I washed mine out with a hose and soft brush
A ratcheting 10mm wrench is your friend. It isn't that bad of a job just time consuming. Oh and you might want to have health insurance to take care of the bumps, scrapes, bruises, and hemoraging that is known to have happened with such a job. Welcome to the world of the Corvette. It just gets better from here.
