255's on 9 1/2 in. sawblades
Hello everyone. I have a '94 coupe with 17 x 8.5 sawblades in front with 255's on them. I just bought 2 - 17 x 9.5 for the front and now i'm
wondering if the 255's will be too small for the 9.5's.
Thanks,
Rick

I've seen lots of low-riders that had wheels which were ridiculously wide for the tires mounted on them, and they seem to be okay.
...'course, they never go faster than about 35mph, too......
I would not be worried about the safety or performance, they should be fine. Might look a little odd to someone who is knowledgeable about these things....most folks will never notice.

Thanks.... i was thinking about getting 275's for the new rims but
the 255's are still in good shape.I could leave them on those rims.
I bought the 9.5 rims to bring the tire out more to the end of the wheel well.

As an added bonus some tires like Goodyear GS-D3 are more available in 285, and cheaper than 275s.
The only reason to use 275s is to go into SCCA competition where the tire size must be stock, 275x40x17 for Z51 cars.

Even if i did get the 285's for the front i still would not be able to rotate them, i have 11 inch sawblades with 315's on the back. That's why i bought the 9.5's. I am looking to bring the frontwheels out to the wheel well.

If those 255s are original GSCs you could probably sell them to an NCRS type owner for the cost of new 275s for your car.

Here ya go - 95 with Magnaflow cat back - or at least what they market as their cat back - I replaced the cats at the same time with high flows. Exhaust sounds good - but be warned you get some resonance at around 1200 rpm - drops off at about 1450.
But it sounds SWEET!

I'm running 245s all the way around on 9.5 1990 rims on my 95. Nothing tight about them at all.
