I'm trying to take the side windows out of my 88 convert.... (going to tint them). The passenger side window need the life arm spot welded back on so that's a big reason. I can't get the peg off! (towards the nose of the car) I'm using the proper allen key but the back metal plate spins with it.... any ideas on how to get teh window out or take this off without causing harm to the window?

Just did mine.. I found out that by using a Vice Grip on it to keep it from spinning did the trick. Put that sucker on it tight and you will get it off with no problems
IT WORKED! Toughy getting it situated and the grips on it but it did the job most excellently.
Thank you
... But the vette bit me for the first time.... Got a nice bloody cut on my pointer finger from the bottom of the window! Did yours have a sharp edge just forward of the peg?? I was going to post a pic but I couldnt find the camera, Prolly ran off with a super-model again

Glad to hear! As for my window having a sharp edge.. no I didn't experience that.

....why take them out?...just remove (partly) the door panels and apply the tint......the tint will be below the tops of the door panels........i have an 88 coup and when i had mine done, the guy eased back the window sweep and placed the tint down there.....expert job...and he did my back window in one piece too...

Two reasons
1. I need to get the Window lift arm fixed on the Passenger side.
2. It's easier to do it with them out of the car, IMO.

...i was just going to edit this and ya beat me to it!....ok on the lift arm but i still believe easier to tint while in because if you tint while out, you run the risk of scratching the tint.......jmo....good luck....

Yeah, your right about the risk of scratching... but if I do it with care and time I should hopefully come out without a scratch. If it gets a scratch no biggie, it's fixable
Also, I got the car late august. When I get a car I usually take the interior apart and clean every piece then put it back together.... You'd be amazed how must dust, grime, debris, and.... misc. things are in an interior.
