I had a Clifford alarm system on a '79 Corvette and as long as you had the igintion key in the ON position when you re-connected the battery the alarm would not sound.

1) Wash and wax.
2) Change the oil.
3) Put on the car cover.
I start her about once a month, and let her run for about 20 mins, sometimes more. I leave the battery connected, as this keeps the car alaram engaged; I don't trust the people in my area. Starting the car often enough, and for long enough, should keep the battery charged.

I bought a panel of that blue Styrofoam SM house insulation and cut it into four 1'x2' rectangles and drove the vette up onto them for the winter. In the spring the panels had a nice curved imprint of the tire so I figured it MUST help instead of leaving them on concrete.
