My 93 standard shift stalled twice yesterday when taking of from a dead start.I checked it at idle by moving the linkage quickly and it had a hesitation when doing so. I checked it with my auto scanner and no codes were displayed.I also checked to see if water was leaking near the distrubotor. This car i bought new and has only seen rain once coming back from Carisle in 1994.The mileage is arond 15,000.The only thing this car does is sometimes backfires in the process of starting when motor is up to temperture which it has done since new.Not all the time just randomly. It will also backfire sometimes when i get on it and let up quick. I am afraid know to take it out on the road any imput would be appreciated.
Mine wasn't as bad as yours, but I've found that low mileage cars can still have the opti crap out just like any other distributor due to condensation.
This happened on my '93 and on my 91 GMC.
I have pics somewhere that show the inside of a distributor from a car that doesn't get driven often. It ain't pretty.
This is one possibility. Check the fuel filter also, and could be maybe some bad gas if it is old.
With such low mileage, I doubt you ever ran the tank down close to empty.
The car had bad gas nobodys buying the expensive high test. We will use octane booster or ask what brand sells the most high test. It all boils dowm to cost. Thanks for the replys. SAVE THE WAVE
