Help on Pulley Pull
i'm replacing my water pump on my 96 LT1....there's a pulley below the A/C compressor that is blocking access to the center pump bolt on the drivers side...does anyone know what this pulley is for and the best way to get it off???...it doesn't have a "nut" per se on the front to loosen....thanx in advance

Sounds like the Power Steering Pully. You will need a puller to get it off. Renting one was as expensive as buying one. I found a foreign made one for $30 or so. Worked fine. If you were closer you could borrow mine.

You don't need to remove the PS pulley to get to that WP bolt. If I recall correctly, there are holes in the PS pulley, and you can rotate the pulley until one of the holes aligns with the WP bolt. You can then pass a socket/extension through the hole to access the WP bolt.

If I'm misremembering about the holes in the pulley, you should be able to get it with a swivel socket and extension. I do know that I didn't yank the PS pulley when I did my Opti swap...
