Default Parking Brake light on

I have a 94 6speed coupe if that makes a differance and now when i take my Parking Brake off the Parking brake light that says "Park" stays illuminated. What could be the problem and whats the fix.

theres a switch your park handle engages, it could be out of adj. or bad. pullcover off to check it

There's also a chance it's still partially engaged.

Look in owners manual. There's instructions for properly releasing it.

They made it that way so you can set the brake then put the handle down to exit the car.

If you'll raise the handle up until you feel a ratchet click then press the button and hold it while lowering the handle that should do it.

Different view. After starting if my key does not return completely to the "Run" position the parking brake light stays on. Might check that if all else fails.

I fixed it... thanks.... the little tab that reads weather the ebrake is engaged or not just needed to be bent a little bit. Dont you just love those cheap easy 2 seconds fixes..... no more annoying bright red light
