PKE..nothing is working!

PKE..nothing is working!
My PKE is not working. I tried re-programming. I go through all the steps and the PKE stops flashing when I bring the key fob in range. Which the manual says confirms that it is programmed. Still doesn't work. I also tried holding the door button down to cycle the door locks and turn the PKE back on if it has been accidently turned off. Door locks do nothing 
It will manually open the passenger and hatch. Any ideas?

Okay, so I have had a particularly BLONDE day 
I tried cycling the locks again and it worked! I was turning the ignition on. You're supposed to just put the key in the ignition. I think I'll have a Margarita
