I currently have a '94 Trans Am. I bought it about 2 months ago. Now I am thinking of trading it in for a late 80s Vette. Any comments or suggestions? I traded in my old BMW that I bought about a year ago to get the Trans Am. I know I change my mind a lot. thanx.
Have you driven any of the Corvettes that you are looking for? I have owned F bodies and Corvettes over the years, and to me, there is no comparison! I like the feeling of driving and being in a Corvette. But, if you need to ever carry much luggage, passengers, or are young and insurance would be high, whatever, the Firebird may be more practical for you. Even an older (I have an 88, mint condition) Corvette commands respect wherever it goes!
I have not driven a Vette nor been driven in a Vette. I like it for it's looks. I don't even care about the performance even though a Vette has plenty of it. As for the space, I'm sick of being a taxi for everyone. One other person is enough for my car but it doesn't always turn out like that because of all the room in my current car. I take care of my cars better than I take care of myself. Please help me with prices. I know my car is worth about $7,500 to $8,000. I was hoping on doing an even trade. thanx.
The feeling of driving a Firebird/Camero is nothing like that of driving a Vette! Your problem will be your price range. If you hope to get into a C4 (1984 - 1996) Vette for around $7000, you'll probably just end up with a headache. Most Vetts in that price range will have either been abused, or just plain have too may miles on them. Unless you want a project car that you can invest some money into and build as you like, I'd have to recommend waiting until you have some more money.
You want your first Vette experiance to be a plesant one and not a nightmare!
Well this past summer I earned around $3,000. Thats how I was able to upgrade to a Trans Am and was able to hook it up. I'm hoping that I can do the same next summer. Besides, so far with the buying and selling, I was able to make a little profit. I don't mind a car with high miles as long as it still runs and looks good. thanx.
You should go out and drive a vette before you buy one you might hate it..lol as far as your price range goes you should be able to pick up an 84-86 maybe 87 in that price range just be patient the right deal will come along. If you wanted to go with say a 76-82 you can definately find a decent car in that price range..good luck do some research and homework and you will find the right car, there are a lot of issues when it comes to corvettes and most of them are costly, if and when you find a car you should find someone that knows corvettes to check the car out thoroughly before you purchase it.
