Guys,i put a new drivers window in today. Now im no window man,and it showed.Took me hours, cos after loads of messing around trying to get the bolts through the window with it in,i realised you can do it whilst its out then slot them through the holes lol.
Anyways! The windows finnaly in .But its not positioned right. When i shut the door, the top right hand tip of the window catchs on the door, and it took some paint off already It shuts fine, but its the couple of mm that is keeping it from being perfect.
Ive adjusted the window on the 3 bolts that connect it to the mechanism as much as they will go.
Good Luck!! Window glass adjustment is my least favorite thing in the world to do. There is a tech tip on the subject, and it's covered in the FSM. Basically, you have the glass adjustment bolts, the top two rail adjustment bolts, the adjustable pads at the top inside of the door, and a stop at both the front and rear. Anyone of these off and you have problems ranging from door being too hard to shut, leaks, and wind noise.
I have played with mine maybe 20 times and I'm still not quite happy with the noise. This weekend I'm replacing the last POS aftermarket WS (B Pillar) with OEM and giving it one last shot.
Cheers dude.Ill look tomorow. Its started raining over here on the English coast,so it can wait lol.It was a pain in the *** to fit,and by the sounds of it will be one to adjust! Thanks for the tips
I bought two new side windows and replaced them both within an hr and a half. No troubles here. Only had to tweak it a tad bit. Seemed pretty straightforward to me.
Is the window tight? If you can you rock it back and forth you have a broken plastic window guide which is a common C4 failure item. It's a $10 part at the Chevy dealer or Eckler's, etc., and will have to be replaced before attempting any adjustments. The glass alignment is fairly typical; lower the glass about an inch and compare it with the window opening- is the top of the glass parallel to the top weatherstrip and the side of the glass parallel with the side "B" pillar weatherstrip? If not lower the glass about halfway until you have access to the three bolts that mount the glass to the window regulator. Once you have it aligned adjust the upstops. Correct is when you can push your fingers up into the weatherstrip and just feel the top of the glass with your fingertips.
Right.I managed to bodge it today lol.I took out the bolts and with the dremel, made the adjustment holes a few mm bigger on the appropriate side.Fits a treat now!
Not going to touch this window now, dont want it breaking like the last one!
