Default Life's lessons learned?

OK, very slow at the clinic tonight. Let's do a contest. I have a "male enhancement" (read Viagra) ink pen to give away for the funniest story that I get tonight. Deadline is midnight EST, Oct 24, 2006. Hopefully by the time we will have beaten the Cardinals again.
What dumb mistake have you made with or to your C4 that you will NEVER do again.
Here's mine: I used to own an 86 coupe. I found that the hatch was hard to push down so I WD40'd the chrome tubes. Worked great! It then closed by itself and I had to carry a broomstick to hold it up. I bought replacements at NAPA but they were not cheap!:o
Hopefully we will all learn something here tonight that will keep us out of trouble.

After driving my Vette, I noticed a funny rattle coming from the engine area. Well I popped the hood to check it out. While inspecting, I placed my hand on the valve cover for support. It took a second or so to feel the burn but when I did I pulled my hand so quickly that I hit the hood support causing the entire clamshell to fall on my head. To keep my self from faceplanting I put my hand right back down on (you guessed it) the valve cover. Lesson burned!!!

I jacked my hood into the ceiling!!! Witch busted a small corner off. Ugh, the cracking sound made me sick. Always look up!!!

Luckily the busted part snapped off pretty clean, I've since epoxied it back together and am trying to paint match.

As I've been a reciepient of a pen in a previous contest, I'm withdrawing my name, but not my foopaw.

Read the current post going on about those $5.50 countersunk screws for headlight covers ('84 parts is the thread heading)

One day I noticed a screw coming loose on the headlight housing, but I figured "Heck, I don't drive much at night in the summer, I'll tighten it next time I wash the car"

Well, I forgot to tighten it. Drove the car at night, and ripped a hole in side of the Headlight opening cutout when the I turned the headlights on. And it wasn't a nice clean rip either. Jagged -wavy - Fiber threads-hanging-out- all-over what a bigass mess rip.

Luckily this two-day fix (at home) has been my biggest mistake (so far)

I added a 1/4 of a qt of oil before a road trip. Popped the hood to check oil 800 miles later, you guessed it, I had left the oil cap on top of the crossfire intake. Apparently there is just enough room to between the hood and intake to hold a oil cap snugly. I was luck the open VC didn't spit out all my oil on the drive and seize the engine

there's always the story about changing a flat with a flat but i'm sure thats pretty common

UhOh, memories are flooding back all of a sudden. I did two stupid things.

I backed my car out of the storage garage a few years back with the hood open.

It was a 6.5ft door opening, and I head a loud CRACK/CRUNCH!!
Top edge of the hood caught on the door.

Ripped the fiber glass wheel well housing right where the hood support mounted on. 2 part epoxied it back together with some metal corner bead (drywall stuff) and painted it all black to match. Works better than new.

I don't have any stories about the Vette, but I will say "no way" on the Tigers winning tonight.

Go Cardinals

Default Heres mine

Not once but twice I flipped the motor over on the engine stand, WITHOUT draining the oil first. Because I had the top half of the motor off the oil went all over the garage floor. Took a whole bag of absorbant to clean it up.. By the way 409 did a good job of lifting the oil out of the cement.

OK, I guess I do have a couple.

1. Lesson Learned: Never put a hose to the engine compartment. No, I didn't fry my opti, but I did fry a head light module.
2. I tried to burnout with the traction control on. duh.:o

No offense intended, But your Viagra contests are getting a little old. I'm 55, and the day that I need Viagra is the day that I become a Priest.

Jeez- o- peete. Poor Pudge takes one in the nutz and then has to chase a wild pitch.
Rik, you have a good team there. I was at game 1 and saw how good they really are. My grandson was there too and the Cardinals were always his favorite, especially Pujols. The big guy hit his home run so that it landed about 20' to the right of him. Made his year, heck - made his young life!

No offense taken. We get these things from the drug reps and folks are always glad to have them. The most fun is to put them on a macho co-workers desk and then make a comment about it when lots of others can hear.
Just playing.
