Default Sell C6 for C4

Let me begin by saying that I have a 2007 coupe (6 speed) with basically no options except the Z51 package. This car is amazing and I bought it at a great price around 4 months ago. At first I was planning to sell it and buy an '08 at the same discounted price.

However... I really don't like how much it limits me financially. I don't have problems making the payments but I think there are many other ways to spend the money (or saving). I am pretty sure I can sell the car for at least what I paid (minus taxes) so that it won't be a loss.

I know I want another Vette and have always liked the C4. I had a 95 Z28 for about 6 years, so I know quite a bit about the LT1. To my surprise it seems as though the C4's have not depreciated at all in the last few years.

I would prefer the LT4, but they are selling at quite a premium. Since I want a 6 speed and LT4's are so expensive, this limits me to '95 and before. What do you all think a reasonable price would be for a 1995 coupe with ~50k miles and in good condition? I would prefer to have one w/o any mods and absolutely no wrecks. If possible I would like to spend around 15-16k.

Thanks for your comments in advance.

Seriously, I would consider a trade. MSRP on my car is 48k, if I could sell it for 44k, I would be a happy camper. What would you want for your '96?

Beautiful car. I am not crazy about yellow but that is one hell of nice Vette.

I have seen some real nice 1995s for around 15K. In particular, a vert that was in exceptional condition and about those miles. You should be able find what you are looking for.

if you're not in a rush I don't think an lt4 within your price and mile range is unobtainable. A month ago there was a absolutly mint 96 CE coupe with 44k miles for sale down the street from me for $16,500. I knew his price was low but I asked him anyway if he was negotiable on the price and to my surprise he said he'd go as low as $16. if I had the cash for a second vette I would have bought it there on the spot. Just be patient and keep your eyes open. There are plenty of good deals out there waiting for you.

95 is a good year. True you're not getting the LT4 but you are getting probably the most refined of the C4s. If you absolutely want to go unoptioned to lower the asking price beware .... there are those who claim that's so rare it makes the car worth more . But the sport seats are very comfortable and worth it

Good luck in your search

My car is a 95, bought with 52k miles a few months ago, 100% stock, no wrecks, paint and interior in excellent condition, with every option- paid 13.2k before taxes, about 15 after. I also got something of a deal though. I dont think it should cost you a ton.

I don't think LT4s are out of your price range. I bought mine with 57,000 miles for $16,000.

I've seen a few LT1 vettes going for around $10K or less and you'll always find the one you want if you wait.

That sounds very doable, if you consider private sales. Check the C4's For Sale forum as well as Craigslist, Autotrader, and your local paper.
I found my '96 sitting forlornly in the classifieds for that price range three years ago and the prices haven't dropped much since then.

Good luck.

PS. I think larryfs means "straight across"....

I agree with some of the others here
I wouldnt give up on the LT4 just yet
A CE or a Grand Sport would be a good one
Just keep looking

And if you want a real car you could always step up to the LT5
Ive seen some pretty good ones for around 20k

Just kidding on the real car thing
so everybody relax

I have a LT4 and been thinking about moving up to a C5 or a steal on a C6. Or keeping it and getting a second vette because I love the LT4 so much. I know where you are coming from though. I have a 55 belair sitting there collecting dust since I got my vette and I think what I could do with that money. Newer vette, realestate, invest . All I know is I don't think I will be able to go with out a vette .

Ask yourself, "Is driving the C6 for a couple more months untill I find a C4 worth the depreciation of the resale value of the C6?"

If its not worth it and you dont mind not driving a Vette for a while, Dump the C6 soon so you can get the most back. (Assuming you have another car to putput around in)

As for finding a C4, just wait. We all keep our eyes peeled for ya.

You should be able to find an LT-4 coupe with around 50K miles in your price range with no problem. The lower miles cars start to get pricey but 50k miles is very possible at your price. The problem with owning a C4 is you will never want to be without one afterwards. I bought a C5 vert new a couple of years ago that I would sooner part with before my C4. The C4 has more Corvette heritage and it delivers more of the Corvette experience in my opinion.

I paid 8k for mine, '92 6 speed in basically mint condition.

My point is, you can get a whole lot of car for 16k. If I were you, I'd start looking at ZR-1's, CE's, or GS's. I'd say LT-4 should be the minimum for that kind of money. Admiral blue ZR-1... dang I need to go change my pants now!

Have you driven a C4? The difference is like night and day.

If you are getting a coupe, drive it with the top off. You may change your mind.

I went from a C4 coupe to a C5 and back to a C4 Vert. The X-brace under the vert makes the car stiffer than the coupe, but the C5 rides a lot better. It was like stepping back in time from the C5 to the C4. Also the stopping distance is a bit longer on the C4. I haven't driven a C6 yet, but I'm sure the difference would be drastic.

How about looking for a C5?
