All of a sudden my LT4 has become a daily driver. About six months ago my wife hit one of those 4 legged rodents with antlers and took out the radiator and trans cooler on our suburban. My wife being far from mechanically inclined decided that the red stuff coming out of the smashed up front end of the suburban was deer blood . And decided to drive it home. Well after pushing all the (dex cool and trans fluid / I mean deer blood according to her) out of the broken radiator and cooler, she drove it til it wouldn't go anymore . So when we bring it into the local dealership for the repairs I told them I wanted the tranny inspected closely because of what happened and wanted it covered under insurance (of course they said it was fine). Well here we are 6 months later and the tranny is done . So til the suburban is repaired and the weather cooperates the LT4 is my daily driver while she drives my duramax. So in away this is a good thing . Til the bill for the tranny comes or it starts to snow .

No kidding..hittting a deer is an act of God??
Hmmmm...I just hit one of the neighborhood juvenile delinquent/shorts-below-the-buttocks/tatooed/dope-smoking/surly/walk-down-the-middle-of-the-street/teenaged hoodlums (doncha luv 'em?) with my 3/4 ton Chevy flat-bed. (don't worry: non-fatal)
Did about the same damage as a deer, and...hey...he just jumped right out in front of me!!!
I wonder if my insurance company will call that an "acto of God"??
(maybe one of them deer whistles will work on punks?)

(just kidding, of course, I don't go around running over kids with my truck....I have an attack dog for them....) (just kidding, again)
Yeah I'm on borrowed time with driving the LT4 right now. The snow and the following of salting the roads could hit anytime here in MN. It is a strange feeling. Everytime I have to drive somewhere I smile but at the sametime I kinda feel guilty using it as a DD. Oh well by the time the sub is fixed it will be time to detail it one more time and pull into the shop for the winter. Which then I will start tinkering and doing some preventive maintenance for next spring .

I used to go to Ft McCoy, Wisconsin a lot with my Army Reserve unit. The guys that worked there said that in Wisconsin you usually get 6 deer a year. 1 each for muzzle loader and rifle season, 2 during bow season and 1 with your pickup and another with the wife's car.
Don't get me started on those ditch rodents. The heard population here in MN is something like 8 times what it was in the early seventies and the DNR hands out permits like the things are bald eagles or something. Heck suburbs around the twincities (Minneapolis/St Paul) are hiring sharp shooters because they are becoming such trouble. And the insurance companies are going nuts . I know of at least 4 people that are laying in the hospital in hamburger state because they hit one on their motorcycles. Half the reason I sold my Harley because I knew too many people that were killed on their bike. There went another vent
I'm driving mine 50 miles a day past downtown LA and through sunny Watts County (when the 10 is super-screwed)
Got a pang of guilt this week and today driving the previous commute vehicle - the wife's 300 000 mile Toyota pickup - wow what a difference! I just cant get them tires to light up for some reason....
However everyone loves to see a vette on the road, so I like to think I'm doing a service to the community
Observations so far on other drivers since the 'upgrade' -
Biggest a-hole - Honda Accord (stock) (3 of them in one week)
Most optimisitc tailgater - Ford F150
Nosy parker - BMW M3
I am actually taking the commute much easier now but the overtaking windows are much wider, obviously. I really got to get the alignment and idle speed sorted.

Its going to be 79 today in So-Cal. I got the heater set at 70 at night.
I hate the cold.
You can hit a deer anywhere, one took out my Mustang on hiway 17.
