Default Hard opening hood

If you guys get tired of my posts just let me know. When I open my hood I have to pull the lever and lift with some effort, on the corner of the hood. Is it normal to have to pulll on the hood or should the springs pop it up enough to the open it?

Some pop up, some don't. Mind doesn't but it's real easy to pull the lever under the dash and then I just lift the corner of the hood and the gas strut takes over.

Springs should pop it up. The pins are adjustable on both axis, and you need to make sure the bumper height is right and pin depth is ok. Check for a tech tip, but as best as I recall from memory you just loosen the pins a little, close the hood on level ground and then tighten the pin bolts where they floated too. May have to do it a couple of times.

When you pull the hood pop lever the hood should pop up on both sides and you should no have to pull up on the hood with any force. Make sure the cables are greased. I have had to clean the cables and the pins/springs along with taking the female lock out and clean underneath it (take out the 3 10mm bolts). Last time I greased my pins, one side of the hood would pop up while driving.

It's hard to describe but very easy to do. I thought that imine was normal, it never popped up. I cleaned all the old grease out and regreased it and just was living with it until I went to Funfest and Gordon went out to my car and adjusted them for me.

basically, loosen up the three bolts that hold the pin/ spring to the underside of the hood, verry loose so they move on their own. Then slowly close your hood while holding the plate against the underside of the hood, don't latch it, movi it up and down and let it move in your hand so that it is centering itself. Then holding it in place open the hood and tighten the bolts. Do this for the other side. Then close and open the hood, does it pop? If not adjust the rubber bumber on the underside of the hood out a couple of turns until it will pop. Don't turn them out too much or you'll have alot of pressure on them, just enough to get a good pop.

Make sure the door, fender, and hood have a good/equal line if you adjust the pin plate. If your not careful you can really mess up the alignment and have a difficult time getting it back right.
