Default A/C problem

I had the gas in my 90 changed to R-34, and the compressor still did not operate accept when the mechanic used a jumper wire under the dash by the drivers side. He thought the automatic control on the dash was defective. I checked with two salvage yards and one agreed and one said the problem was a computer module above the gas pedal. Each part was over a $175. Has any one had the same problem and pinpointed the problem for a solution? The car has the temperature of the interior in digital! Other then the 'exchange method' is there a way of testing out each part?

Disconnect and reconnect the battery and see if it works; repost if it doesn't.

If you have a scan tool you can control the Heater / Ac with the scan tool. If you can turn it on with the can tool it is the control head that is the culprit. I have the same problem and amwaiting for the scan tool. I have gone through the diagnostics and checked or replaced the programmer (under the dash near the gas pedal). The diagnositcs gives you a way to check for shorts to ground but, does not specifically allow you to check the control head.
