Sometimes my brakes doesn't work in the morning when the car is not warmed up properly. It'll make a humming sound when I start driving it and when I step on the brake, it doesn't work properly...the brake starts vibrating. But after a couple of stop and go, it'll work again. Usually I let the car warm up about 15minutes. The coolant temp by then is around 215 and the oil temp is 170 or so. Anyone knows what the deal here is?
I am confused at the explanation, my 86 will cycle the ABS the first time the car reaches ~5 MPH no matter the temperature of the car, and you will feel it through the pedal and the side effect is a reduction in braking as well as the noise only during the self test, it will do this test every time the car is started. Does the hum come from behind you? The ABS pump is located behind the drivers seat.
It seems like the humming comes from the front of the car...i'll check on it.
It only makes this sound when I step on the gas on drive or reverse...doesn't make the sound when on park. And when I try to stop the car, the brakes semi-work like the brake system is down...the brake pedal starts pulsing, and eventually when the car stops, the humming goes away. It'll happen again when I step on the gas and back on the brake, but after driving for a minute or so, then everything is back to normal.
This only happens during a cold start. If I warm up the car long enough, I don't have this problem....long enough meaning more than 15min.

I believe thats the engine
Seriously though, Ive had a similar problem on my 95 though not quite the same. I dont hear any unusual noises, but when I start off in reverse when my car is still cold, the brakes essentially slide for a few inches before stopping. I havent tested it while warm, but I know EVERY time the car is cold the brakes slide while in reverse, kinda odd.
Just pull your wheels off and do a visual on your brakes. make sure everything is cool down there, like pads hanging up etc. It's real simple and then you can eliminate them from your troubleshooting.
I should mention that the ABS light is on...been like this since I got the car
month ago, but haven't check out the problem yet. Not sure if this is related to the humming problem. Is there a way to check out the ABS problem?
