When replacing plug wires on an LT4, whose do you use. Factory, aftermarket, etc? Where to buy? I'm looking for the best set money can buy, within reason. I checked into the Nology Hot Wires, those guys are at about 300 bucks, a little much for wires--don't you think?
I really like the factory wires, but I won't pay the price.
I used red Taylor wires that look very similar(ends are formed different and no numbering). Got them from Summit mail order and cost 51 bucks. Part number 74225.
Good luck. (Thats for installing any spark plug wire on LTX type engines!)
As the others have said, the stock wires are really fairly decent. Their major drawback is price. Keep in mind the GM replacement wires you get will NOT have the cylinder numbers on them.
I think the Taylor Spiro Pros are a good value for the quality of wire and boots you get.
MSD are surely good quality wires, but more than one CF user has stated one or more wires were too short in the kits they bought. Maybe that's been corrected now.
Top of the line wires would have to include the Magnecor Race Wires, but these are custom order only and expensive. They have a great web site with loads of technical info at http://www.magnecor.com/.
Bottom line... as long as they are in good condition, are any of these wires likely to make a detectable difference on a stock ignition system? Doubtful.
I just had to replacce mine, apparently I burned through them(guess they touched the manifold) ran me a few $$$$$$$$! What crap! Runs like a champ now!
I used the 95 part# for my GS. The only problem is the coil is differant on a 96 than a 95 so you have to make up a coil wire. This was with the MSD wires.
As Rich said, the wires are the same, the only difference is maybe the coil. I think the Taylors are supposed to fit all 92-96 C4s. They include two types of coil wires, so I'm guessing the one I didn't use is for the 92-95 style coil.
