There were a total of 35,109 Corvettes produced in 1986. 6,835 of them came with the MM4 4-speed manual transmission. This is 19.46% of production. Since there were 7,315 convertibles produced we can guesstimate that 1,423 were manuals.
GM did not publish exact numbers for this option between coupes and verts.
My first Vette, a light metallic blue (hence the screen name) '85 is in New Zealand somewhere. When I sold it last year, the guy was taking it directly to the port of LA to put it on a boat. Apparently if a car is 20 years old or older, you don't have to do the right hand drive conversion.
I'd really like to visit someday. My car's already there!
your dead right, the car has to reach 20 years old before coming into NZ so you dont have to convert to right hand drive. One month under and shes an expensive import as its about US$10,000 to convert.
Make the trip over i'm sure you will enjoy,it would be fairly easy to track down your old car.
all the best Nick

Only three of the extremely rare Maual Edition Corvettes were made as verts. The original owners crushed two of them, by order of their Homeowners Associations, for being eyesores, and the third is reputed to be stored, in the open, somewhere in the Arizona desert, under 24-hour armed military guards. Few people have actually seen it, and most of those have since been institutionalized. Several others have died under unexplained circumstances.
There is a persistent rumor that a Maual Edition coupe was built at one time, but this has never been reliably verified. None of the people originally associated with the Maual Editions are still living or, if they are, they aren't talking.
