I have a set of T1S's. I do like them. They ride nice, are quiet and stick pretty good.

The best part of my tires? I won them on Speed Channel last summer.

thanks bogus, I was trying to decide between the toyo's and the firestone firehawks, about $200.00 difference. but i need a good tire for the rain(washington, go figure). Others have said the firehawks don't like standing water at all. don't need that, but need to be able to drive the car when it rains.

I have driven the Toyo's in the rain a few times... but I live in SoCal, where rain mostly turns the roads greasy.

The tires seem to do fine in the rain.

I have the Firehawks and they do really well in the rain, the only problem I had was when we got 5" in an hour in an unexpected storm, and the entire road was covered in 3" of standing water.

I made it home (15 miles) just fine, but it was definatley 10 under the limit and both hands on the wheel, partially because of the crap visibility, but also from the feeling of water hitting the floorboard at 1000 MPH... which... if you havn't felt it in your left foot...is an interesting sensation

Not sure if cost is a big concern, but everything I've read here on the forum says the GS-D3s (Goodyear) are great in the rain.

I brought my car home on the highway in a driving, howling rain with skies that looked like night time. The car has older Michelin Pilot SPs and they were absolutely rock solid and fully controllable, at slightly lowered speeds (around 55-65 mph). Don't know if they still make that model, but I'd consider them if they do.

Check tirerack.com for some reviews of tires altho I'm pretty sure they don't stock Toyos. They do have a review section, both of the tires they sell, ones they test, and reader reviews. Pretty interesting stuff. You also might want to post this question re Toyos on the Pac/NW forum and see if there's more response there with respect to tires in the rain.

When it was raining at Gingerman raceway a stock trim LT-1 car was as fast as anyone else on the GS-D3's. I know you may not be racing it but @ 100 mph he was shooting an impressive 12ft rooster tail! So i believe these to be great wet weather tires even at speed.

I have a set of Proxes T1-S on my 02 coupe and while I haven't driven them a lot in the rain, the tread pattern looks like it would do a decent job of moving water out to the sides. In the dry they are way too noisy but have excellent dry grip. The T-1S is no longer made and has been replaced by the T1-R. Different tread pattern and a slightly different compound.

If you go to the Tire Rack website, each tire will have a chart that shows dry and wet capabilites expressed in a value of 1 to 10. It's a good reference for deciding on a tire. Any tire that shows a Wet Traction value of 8.8 or higher is a good wet weather tire.

Check out this Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....+Pole+Position

None of the Firestone tires on the Tire Rack website comes close to this tire in terms of wet or dry traction. Yet Firestone is the parent corporation for Bridgestone and they share some design and materials in their top line tires.

I had a set of older Potenza RE070's at one point on my 92 vert and was very pleased with them. I did some autocross and a couple of track days and was very impressed by them.

If you are a Costco member, you should be able to order any Bridgestone tire from them.
