You're not from here origionaly are you?

I live in FL (born here) and have carried for over 2 years. Read the statutes, it is legal to use deadly force to prevent a felony.

What they're doing to your car is a felony and you have the right to a citizens arrest First I would report the actions to the local police... then Camp out and capture their sorry butts! You have every right to take them down and you can you a lil more force than they do... but keep in mind you hurt them they have every right to sue you. Police have more freedoms than us in an arrest. Keep that 2" wrench outta sight unless needed

I have always used a "CLUB" on my Vettes when parked in public until this summer when I purchased a locking device which attaches to the brake or clutch pedal shaft and prevents the perp from depressing the brake pedal/clutch. It also came with a bright yellow cloth cover with elastic rim to place over steering wheel. The cover has a bright red warning printed on it so the perp won't break in your car only to find that it has the brake or clutch locked in place. This locking device has a "bulletproof" deadbolt lock on it and would be extremely difficult to bypass or remove. The weakest thing about the "CLUB" is that the perp can cut your steering wheel and remove the club in a few seconds.

Try going to www.unbrakeable.com as that is the web address listed on my locking device. I bought it at one of those "As seen on TV" stores in Gatlinburg. I think it listed for $39.00 but it was on a sale table and I got it for $12.95. It lists on the website for $59.95.

It is by far the best anti-theft device I have seen as it not only secures your car but warns the would be thief before damage has been done. It is rated as the number one theft device by Good House Keeping.

I agree that use of a car cover may draw attention to your car. If you have tint on your side windows I would definitely have it removed. Good luck in protecting your car. BTW, I used to have a '96 also.

I didn't feel like reading through all the responses so i don't know if this has been said.

Don't all covers have reinforced rings so you can put two cables through them and lock it so they can't even take the cover off? I know mine has rings but they might be able to break them. I bet you can find a really good cover that can stop them from even getting it off or breaking the cover.

If not you can find a safer apartment with better parking. Or go out and spend that extra little bit and get an apartment with a 1 car garage under it.

If not you are going to have to catch him in the act but all that is going to do is make him mad and next time he will really mess the car up.

As others have said before me, there are alarms and locks you can use. When I lived in a less than desirable area, I used a lock on the steering wheel and an alarm. Neither were top of the line but I figured the combination might be enough. In addition, I would guess your car has a VATS system wich is a very effective theft deterrant system.

A cover seems like a good idea, I would say most vandalism people have a very short attention span and most wouldn't take the effort.

Beyond that there are two things, one is insurance and the other is to accept reality and remember it is just a car. I know it is a Vette and not just a car, but keep it in perspective, there is a risk to owning one, do the things you can reasonably do to protect it, but if it gets damaged, pay the deductable and have it fixed. It is the cost of owning a Corvette, just like buying Zaino stuff. The alternative is to not have a Vette until you graduate and that would suck worse..........

sleep in the car one night with the cover on and your gun in hand, by the time you reload you'll have no more problems

simple solution to make it attractive to no one.

grab a 20 lb. sledgehammer, drive it right thru the clamshell hood, and leave it in there.

or, you could put a body kit on it, that'll ruin it real good. come to think of it, the big sledgehammer thru the hood looks better than a body kit.

Here's one way to make your C4 unattractive to vandals. Primer paint job and 16x7.5 steel rims off a V6 Camaro.

Default May not be legal in some states.

Simply take two or three razor blades and glue them on the back side of each door handle.

Keep in mind to leave a opening for you to strategically open the door. Very important.

Keep a watchful eye out for any red spots or fingers. Take the sample to the police for a fingerprint or DNA analysis.

Repeat if necessary.

Works very well on carjackers too

Paul
