I recently had the spring out as I replaced the diff oil and sealent as she was leaking.
Well, I noticed that the spring shims were in the wrong position according to the FSM for the yellow dot spring in my 93.
SO, I put them in correctly, and now the left to right fenderwell gap to tire is different on both sides. I know this is a common problem, and has been discussed for years.
But, I went out to adjust the nuts on the longer bolts I have had for years to make both sides as close as possible for that visual effect we Vette owners need.
Well, no matter how much I adjust up or down, the left and right sides didnt move up or down. Yes, I drove it around and over speed bumps to settle the suspension, and no change.
I didnt remove any suspension piece other than the camber rods, which I did mess the alignment up a little ( I marked it before). I just loosened the bolts to add grease to the urethane squeeky bushings.
Now, What would cause this? No adjustment available? Sway bars are a few years old, and all bushings are urethane in the rear.
Thats strange too. I know we can get pre load from the sway bars. But the height on my Vette has been the same for quite some time. I just did the differential R&R and only changed the spring shims that go above and below it in the center based on FSM for what spring you have.
If moving the shims changed the look of the car, putting them back the way they where should fix it.
But the FSM states they arent supposed to be there. And the shims are in the center of the spring, which makes no sense to me to affect ride height on the sides. The ride is softer now too, so I bet they serve a purpose that the engineers designed them to be where they are now.
I am getting the car aligned today. I am going to see if the alignment plays with the height as it is definitely out of alignment after putting the diff back in as i had to loosen the camber bolts to grease the urethane bushing (kinda squeeky)
