I had the same problem when I bought mine used. I actually had 2 problems at the same time. Maybe one of them will help you.
1. The previous owner had installed aftermarket, built-in cell phone that was
hooked up to the radio some how. After they removed it, it left 8 (eight)
1/8th inch holes in the bottom of the passenger side floor panel. So of
course anytime it rained, the water kicking up would get sucked into the
carpets.
2. Apparently, the car was also worked on by someone who did not know how to jack up, or use a lift on a vette, because the driver side floor panel was cracked and splintered and also sucked rain into the carpet whenever it rained.
Get under your car and see if there is any damage to the fiberglass floorboard.
If so, it is easily fixed with a fiberglass repair kit. The only hard part is getting the carpet out and then getting it back in as tight as it was originally.
If you can not see any holes or leaks, then it could be something leaking in from the engine compartment, coming in through the vents. BUT I would have no idea how to check that. Maybe someone else will.
Mine did the same thing but it hasn't happened since. I notice when I wash the car though I get quite a bit of water between the dash and the door. I got caught in a gully washer coming home from work one day and there was almost standing water in the floor. I haven't looked underneath but I will now.
Same problem here, passenger side only. Haven't investigated yet, though I suspected the windshield and that the water is running down the A-pillar. I'll check underneath I guess.
I haven't checked with ahose, but I had the car up on jackstands for the tranny install and nothing was cracked or broken.; I am guessing windshield, and body, who knows, just one more project this winter.
