I noticed the other day while driving on the interstate that my coupe will tend to dart back and forth across the lane,I don't know if it's catching a groove or what but I have to constantly correct for this. The front wheels are 9.5 in. the same as the rear and I'm wondering if this could be causing my problem? the car should have 8.5 in. wheels in front. Any ideas?
Check what 65Z01 said. Wide front tires do tend follow grooves in the road a little more. I have 9.5" rims up front and I notice this on the highway too.
I've had similar experiences in my Vette on the NJ Turnpike just north of exit 6. It's usually in the same spot every time I drive to the track in Englishtown.
Thanks,my tires are new, and the alignment was checked when they were put on. The roads up here pretty much suck so it's hard to tell if it's the car or the road. I noticed that while changing lanes as I drove over the painted lines on the road the car fet like it was floating and while in the lane it wants to dart back and forth.

Have the alignment shop check it again..if they follow the specs exactly on a car that has some wear..it will float..they need to dial in a bit more toe in (caster)?..not sure what the tech term is for it.
I've had the same thing happen to me in certain areas of Interstates, and it's almost always in the driving lane on an upgrade. Hop over in the passing lane and my old girl handles like a dream.
When I had my '93 with the original wheels it didn't do that as much, but with the same alignment after I switched to 9.5's all the way around I noticed it a little more than usual. I had it aligned but honestly they made it worst I think.
I think your alignment just needs a little more tweaking to suppress that behavior.
My 94 did that pretty much when I got it (9.5" wheels all around). According to the book, Cor-VETTE specs 1984-1996, the engineers went from 9.5" wheels to 8.5" in the front after 1992 (93-96) to help correct the problem. Z07, ZR1 and Z51 equipped cars still had the 9.5" front wheels.
I had an alignment done and told my alignment guy what the car was doing, he made some change and it is better.
My 92 has 9.5's and at the correct tire pressure (35) is rock steady. At 32 psi, it does move around a little, BFG tires.
A friend has an 84 with Goodyears. At 32, it's all over the road and at 34 it's fairly steady.
Also, too little toe in will make a car "darty" especially over bumps.

Toe in and caster are two completely different things. Caster is the forward and back inclination of the wheels on a vertical axis. Toe in is pointing the wheels inward or outward on a horizontal plane.

Yeah thats what I meant....I knew there was a smarter person then I on this forum..
I've noticed alot of cars have that problem. However, I don't know how you can prevent it. The Big Rigs wear those grooves in the road. Sometimes I just about get lost in them...
