Automatic temperature control only goes down.
My automatic temperature control in my 94 went nuts. Every time I pressed the up the temp went down. It is now bottomed at 60! Any idea what the problem might be?

I've got a 94 and have had the same thing happen a few times. With mine, it seems some or all the HVAC control buttons stop working. Fortunately, it has always gone back to normal after I stopped, turned the ignition off and restated.
I understand your pain. When it happened to me, it was in the winter. I wanted the heat on and pressed the up button, but turned it down a number of degrees before I realized what was happening. Then it would not even let me turn it off.
I am keeping my fingers crossed it does not ever get "stuck" that way.
I do not know what bad head means. What is that?

Yea.. with winter around the corner, 60 deg is not going to cut it!
I'm not sure what control head they are refering to either..

I don't have a problem with the up button going down or vice versa. I do have a problem from time to time with half my buttons not working. I was told this is very common with the C4s and that you should "excercise the buttons" every time you get in the car. Just run through all the AC controls a time or two. They're prone to getting corrosion. If you don't do this then one day they may completely stop working and you'll have to remove them and clean the contact points.

Seriously, when mine does this if I hit the side of the dash it will start working again. I know one day this will stop working and I'll break down and replace it, but for now.
They probably mean the control unit for the automatic climate control.

I had the same problem with my 95. It is a bad head unit, the control portion that you see with all the buttons. It is a module that unplugs and can be replaced. If you take off your dash trim it will be pretty obvious. Chevy wants about $300 if I remember right. I bought a used one from Just Vettes for less than half that and it works and looks like new.

Disconnect the battery for a few minutes and allow the unit to reset. might help. otherwise the C68 can be bought from TLD for $125 and a snap to install

On my '89 mine plays Blinkey... but works fine.. Im too lazy to try and clean the contacts... Just my .02 :smash: :smash: :smash: then it might work.
