can anybody shed some light on this subject. I bought a 96 lt4 about a year ago.there are no markings on the car to indicate that it is an lt4, (like the zr1 tag in back)the only thing i can figure out is it must be the spoke wheels that identify it as an lt4. I have all the build sheets on the car and the window sticker and there is nothing on any of it about the wheels. I also have the brocures from 96 and it does not say anything about the spoke wheels being an option other than the grand sport having the black spoked wheels. The only other thing i can figure out is maybe these wheels were part of a the ride control package, i am stumped
Is your car a 6spd? If so, then it's an LT4. All 1996 LT4's had a 6spd transmission. Also, the 8th digit in the vin will tell you whether or not it's an LT4.
The LT4 and LT1 1996 vettes look the same from the outside. The only ones that came with 5 spoke wheels were the Collector Edition w/silver wheels ( even the LT1) and the Grand Sport w/black wheels. ALL six speed '96 vettes are LT4s and all auto '96 are LT1s. Under the hood The LT4 has the red intake and it says Grand Sport on the throttle body plate. If it makes you feel better..buy an LT4 badge and stick one on the rear like the ZR1, and just in case people pull along side and think your just a lowly LT1..you can get the ones for the side of the hood..

Here is my LT4. The wheels that came with it were the same sawblades that came on an LT1. The previous owner purchased these ZR1 wheels from an original ZR1 owner and put them on the car.
