I am about to order a set of ZR-1 Replica rims from AFS for my 87 Vette.. They have them available in either 17-9.5 all around or 17-9.5 for the front and 17-11 for the rear... They also come with tires Dunlop SP 8000 275-40-17 fronts and 315-35-17 for the rears.. both these sets come with the correct offset so no need for spacers... What is the main diff between 17-9.5 all around or 17-11 in the rear?? and also does anyone know if these tires are any
good... These are offered @ a great price... $1,538.00 for the complete set.. free shipping and handling and free balanceing.. Does this sound like a good
deal any help would be appreciated..
With 9.5" all the way around you can rotate the tires. But if your not worried about that, I would go with 11" in the back. Those 315s will look a lot meaner than 275s :reddevil I'm not sure about the Dunlops, I've never run them, but I know there is people on here who do. BTW, AFS wheels get nothing but good reviews on this forum :D
Your '87 as a slightly different suspension geometry in the back (greater spindle offset) that will allow you to run the 11"/315 combo in the back without any tire hanging out the wheel well. I'd go with the 315's if I were you. Just make sure you get the right offset for your '87.
FYI, my sig pic shows my AFS 9.5" on all four corners. 285's in the back. Many here with newer ('91-96) C4's are running the 11" rears and most look pretty good. Though on these years you have to dial-in the camber to get the right "look".
