Default Console cushion help :(

About a month ago I bought the corvette cushion with the checkered flag for my console. It was $149.00 and pretty ticky tacky I need to re-attach the console cushion. Problem is the folding hinge that it attaches to to open and close the console has pulled away from the body. It looks like the screws just stripped through, can't be tightened back down. I'm assuming I need to replace that entire console piece that makes up the console arm rest? What would I look for on line @ Ecklers or Mid-America?
Thanks in advance!!!

Can't help with the part you would need to replace console but before I
would replace it i would see if i could use an epoxy or something to repair or fix the problem with the stripped out screws.

The epoxy resin works very well on items like you're describing. You can fill the hole and it dries like hard wood that you can drill into and insert a screw.

I suppose I can try that, the entire hinge 8-10 inches long seems to be bent/warped...probably what caused the screws to strip out. I guess I can remove the hinge, try to staighten it. Fill in the stripped holes. My husband keeps bitching @ me to just take it somewhere I hate anyone touching MY CAR

Okay, that won't work. Just took the hinge off and the plastic that holds the screws is completely broken off Looks like I'll have to go to the Dealership ****'s to order the console. I'd rather poke my eyes out with rusty nails

Well, I went to the Stealer-ship and ordered the console for the cushion $107.00 The console for the shifter/cup holder was $329.00. It's slowly all getting re-done

Are you talking about the strip along the side of the console?

If so you can lay a thin strip of Al along side it, and cover with JB Quick. Then sand, and drill to accept the hinge screws.

I've used this method to repair the inner door panels on my 35th (can't buy these panels anymore) and it has worked very well.

The JB Quick alone would break but the Al strip gives enough strength yet has some flexability.

The Al sheet I use is .020" thick from a local hardware store and cuts with hosehold scissors.

107 for the console lid is a good price, dealer cost is around 150.00
