LT 1 vs WRX ?
STI's are as fast acceleration wise as mentioned before but lose out once again in the first corner. Corvettes rock on track even stock. I do like the Subarus though in their element which is off track and in bad weather as well as the old cottage dirt road.
Keep your racing to the track. I drive like an ol grandpa on the street. On track, well, I growl a lot

Have you seen this!

No really, I'm an all stock 'vert. Grammy's Monte Carlo could waste me in the quarter. I'm more aggresive in my daily driver than in the 'Vette. I'm a cruiser not a bruiser.
You gotta be good to keep THEM out of trouble. Check out this story...

WRX clocked @ 142mph, headed home trying to beat curfew.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
STI is even better.

My little wrx wagon makes my c5 and past c4 feel like a heavy pig in the handling category... Both vettes had better grip, but the WRX has all-season tires, and I had good tires on both Vettes. I did add fatter swaybars and better springs.
btw, its not a turbo upgrade to go from 227 to 270.. It's a simple adjustment of programming (And its more like 250-260) Add a down pipe (About $400) and the basic WRX is around 280hp. A turbo upgrade puts them at 330-380hp. Much past that is really begging to blow up the transmission. Also, anyone that drifts a WRX is an idiot, they'll destroy the car doing it. Drifting + AWD = overheating and breaking things in the driveline.
the STI has a very strong transmission, though. To get an STI in the 10s would require a fatter turbo, bettger fuel system, headers, and some engine work.
This car is NOT A drag racer, and not built for straight line acceleration. The top end isn't that great, it's really only quick with a launch, or about 20-70mph. It's built for rally racing. The c4 would literally be torn to pieces if it tried to race the WRX on its home court.
Overall, its a really fun to car to own for having 4 seats, though the Subary Legacy GT is a better choice, mho. And the Impreza is rock solid reliable.
ps, i did some checking. The WRX STI runs about 13.1, 13.2 in magazine tests. If an LT1 beats it, its because the WRX either didn't launch, or wasn't trying very hard. They are in LS1 territory.

Little did I know he had (best guess) shoe horned a Corvair pancake 6 into it by the sounds it made as it disappeared in front of me! …I almost got out of my Alpine to see why it had stopped! 😂😂😂
Some of those rice rockets have also managed to cram two pounds into a one pound sack. 😉
