... And I'm officially the proud owner of a 1996 Vette LT1. So it’s probably time for me to introduce myself . My name is Chris and I’m from Texas. First off let me say thanks to everyone who has helped make this site available. This site has been an awesome resource throughout my quest to find my first vette. In particular a pre-purchase checklist that was posted by a member was very helpful. Thanks!!
Well I bought a 96 LT1 w/ 35k miles. It’s very clean, and drives very tight. I have wanted this car since I was 14 and drove my first vette – a C4 as well. I purchased the car in S. Florida, and drove it back to S. Texas. It’s initial intention was to be a secondary vehicle. With how much fun it is to drive – I hope I’ll be able to resist the temptation of making this a daily driver. I will post up some pictures soon, my camera is dead, and the pictures that were online have been removed - it’s black on red w/ the turbine wheels wrapped w/ 245 front and 285 rear Pilots.
The drive back went very well – no tickets. There was one glitch – shortly after picking up the car a SVC LTPWS error. My stomach dropped as I just signed papers and handed over my check. WTF is this??? With an acronym that long it’s bound to be expensive!! Good thing the car came w/ it’s owner manual. Low Tire Pressure Warning System it said so w/ a sigh of relief I headed to the next gas station and proceeded to check the tire pressure. One tire was a little low @ 30psi - so I filled all tires 35psi. Drove about 15 min and there it came again. Did some more research on this site and it looks like a common thing to happen.
WHAT MAKES THESE SENSORS GO BAD??? Because if it’s an easy / cheap fix I’d like to replace the sensors. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to replace / repair this component?? If not I found a thread on how to take out the light associated with this warning signal, but I’d really prefer to fix the problem.
After that is fix it’ll be time to start the mods on this car. Probably the wheels will be first. Then it’s time for performance parts. I’m ordering an Ecklers catalog next, I’m sure I’ll be able to get a few ideas there.
Well thanks again everyone, I’ll post some pics soon.

nice I'll hopefully be driving my 96 from south florida to Jasper tx to San Antonio back to Lake Charles LA and back to Florida for Christmas. So if you see a black vette w/black rims make sure to : congrats on the new ride. (oh yeah I have that same LTPWS light too)

Congratulations! I'm from Denton originally and even though I live in Michigan I belong to the North Texas Corvette Club.
Fortunately the previous owner did not transfer the sensors over when he changed my 96 over from stock sawblades to ZR1 rims. It is not much work to use a tire guage and I never have to deal with that annoying light.

Congrats and Welcome to the C4 world of Insanity. On the 96 you should have 'sawblade' wheels as the 'turbines' are on slightly earlier years. You will be wanting to drive it every day, I know, I do drive mine everyday and why not?

Congrats and welcom to the madness. When I bought my 96 vert (correct color - red/black) I had wanted the LTPWS, but after everything I read here I am glad my vert did not have that option. Again welcome!
