Taking my 94 coupe to get level "20" tint on the rear & both sides today. The rear will be in 2 pieces with the seam running with the defroster elements. They offered to run a strip accross the top of the windshield, but I don't like the way that looks. Getting a lifetime guarantee for $159.95. I hope there will not be a problem with bubbles around the defroster, but thats what I got the LT warranty for. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Ouch! $160 for three window tint?? Expensive, around here that job is about $85, lifetime warranty, and includes a one-piece rear hatch window. Seamed tint is not a good thing.....
But I understand you gotta get what is available. I'd check around though for one-piece tinting.
I want limo tint. Realisticly unless the cop is a total a$$hole, why would they waste there time JUST to pull you over, say your tint is to dark and give you a ticket. I see alot of cars with too dark tint. A kid at my school has a blacked out stang. Limo tint, black car, black rims, and blacked out lights**they are too dark. You can BARELY see his brake lights at night much less day** He has never gotten a ticket.

Without trying to get into a debate about it, I'll tell you the reason is safety. Not only for the reasons you mentioned (visibility, brake lights, etc) but also for the cop if a person with tint gets pulled over. Trust me, they kinda like to see the occupants of a car they stop.
I dont know though. I want limo and I see alot fo cars here with it and some forum members......but if I get pulled, I dont know what all can happen besides the ticket or how much.....
Got it back today after a couple of hours. Looks kicka$$! I had to get "30" on the sides to get the LT warranty but I did get the darker on the rear. (I can't tell much of a difference.) I also have a headliner in it I installed last month. Seems to make it quieter & the stereo sounds cleaner, too. I will try to get a pic tomorrow. (Rained out today)

Funny you should say that...........
The cops around here have all of thier unmarked vehicles windows tinted. I guess turnabout is fair play.
The same way they can't see us we can't tell if it is a cop or not.
I was also thinking of getting mine done this coming year. I have my everyday car done with 20% (see my site) and love it. I paid $200 for my cavalier, all the way around. It is flawless!! Guy even has his house windows tinted.
Being a LEO here in PA I can only tell you that just like TA stated it is a safety issue. Place yourself in our shoes, you would want to see who/what is in the car when your walking up on it. That being said I have written a tint ticket but I didn't like them so...but other than that I have not and won't write one since mine are done.
Mine came with tint - I was worried at first but I see tons of cars in LA with windows like this. If I'm pulled I will roll the window down not out of fear of a ticket, but out of respect for the cops who are just doing their job. I'm pretty sure if I was driving like an a$$hole they would ticket me for it, but leave me alone otherwise.
I like the fact the car looks cool and I have a measure of anonymity but I have to admit its a little bit dangerous at night when turning into junctions as sometimes you can't see sh*t - I will roll the window down halfway sometimes just to make sure I'm not running over any cats or old ladies
The other thing is you get notiecable dust lines across the window after opening and closing it.. so much dust, its a full time job keeping it clean

Man i wish you would have been the cop that pulled me over a week before i moved out of Pa. my truck had 20% tint all the way around and i got a ticket for it...luckily i had just bought the truck from a dealership i took it back and they picked up the tab but took the tint off the side windows
