You can go to a dealer with your VIN and proof of ownership and they can cut new keys. Only problem is finding out the code for the ignition key.

If you can wait till Tuesday, any Chevy dealer can get the key code from their computer and make them. Just be sure and show some ID to prove its your car, insurance card and drivers licsense, should work.

Not so fast... The dealer doesnt always have the resistor code for your car... i lost my set of keys during a move and they didnt have the chip code in their computer for my 95 for some reason... if they dont have your resistance code then they will have to use a VATS interigator which sucks because you have to have the car their for them to do it so you may have to either have the car towed to the dealership for them to do it or call a locksmith to come out but they want an arm and a leg... Luckily i bought my car from my friends dad in georgia and he had a spare set of keys he took them to the dealership they read the resistance code off the key and gave me the code and i had a set cut at the local dealership in florida and then he sent me the other set so now i have 2 sets hopefully they will have your resistor code in the computer but they may not....

1st of all, you need to tell her it will be very expensive to fix this problem, and she need to work a trade with you...

2nd, goto http://clksupplies.com/shop/index.php?cPath=130_165 and purchase a VATS intergrator ($57.00). Remember, GM will only cut the key, they don't know the VATS code. Have them put the cut on a non-VATS key to use the intergator. Walmart sells "ACCESS #4" key which is the non-VATS key that you use if you decide to bypass your VATS.
Sounds hard, but it is extremely ez....

Once you get the keys cut, but a 2nd set and carry one set in each front pocket.

Then you will never get locked out nor stranded due to lost keys.

the locksmith can cut your key and determine the right resistance for the vats. might be cheaper in the long run

to the g/friend!!

Not that it needs to be mentioned, but when you get your keys back (or have new ones made) make copies of them and keep them @ home. Also, there are 15 different codes so buying a bunch of keys in hopes you happen to get the right one, would cost you more than replacing a busted window!! Good luck!

All your answers are in this CF thread http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1547724
Scroll down to the post with the pictures of codes, how to read the resistance in your VAT key slug, etc. Door keys can be duplicated at any key shop if you have an original. Matter of fact they can even duplicate your ignition key with the VATs slug but all it'll do is turn to the "ACC" position or start position but it'll not open the circuit to provide gas and starter motor operation...that's controlled by VATS
We'vr been following these instructions for extra keys for at least a year in our club with perfect results.

That's the way a VAT ignition key will act if the VATs code is incorrect, You must have the correct VATS coded key based on resistance in olms reading FROM FRONT AND BACK OF YOUR BLACK IMBEDDED SLUG. There are 16 different VAT keys for C4 models, each with a different slug for each of the 16 possible olms of resistance readings.
Any ignition key properly cut to match the lock will turn the ignition to on, etc, but the VAT slug if incorrect will not allow operation of starter and fuel injectors thus not enabling a start.
Maybe if you call clksupplies @ 800-848-6989 and they can help with better info and how to determine correct olms/code for your car.
Sorry you are still having trouble. Good luck, Bill
