Estimate Value - 93 40th
Based on what I see people asking for theirs on Autotrader in my area (although I am aware that you can ask whatever you want, and that doesn't mean our going to get it).
Also basing my price on what I've seen other cars actually go for, not as clean, higher miles, and no extras (like two sets of wheels).
I planned on setting a price of $23,900 and stopping at $23,000.
That being said, I am ready for the beatings. I am sure this thread will grow with people telling me I'm crazy. But, before you do, shop around, not just on-line or in the trader, actually go see the car. If you find cheaper, fine, but are you getting as nice of a car?
I shopped for nearly 1-year before I bought this one. Finally found this one in August of '04. (17,200 miles then). Looked at alot of rags before I found it.
Anyway, If someone whats it, I WILL sell it, if not, I will keep it. My Grand National and Work take up all of my time, I only put 300 miles on this summer.
The right car will always be worth more to the right local buyer. It more likely you will get your best number from a someone who doesn't have as many low mileage options or price comparisons as are on this site. Remote purchasers don't have the luxury of repeated viewings or just being blown away by a face to face viewing of that rare color. I will pay a couple thousand more for a car that is in my neighborhood.
I don't know that the anniversary year will make a difference. It didn't on my 03. I think most buyers would sooner have a 96 for the LT4. The trick is the Ruby color. You almost never see them and it is like the Admiral Blue. Some colors make people say "nice Vette" but the Ruby is a "wow" color if that makes any sense
The dealer prices are very high for these cars because they can sit on them for months, and they also have the carrot of trade ins and financing and that is a lot of what your local buyers will be comparing yours with. Also you probably have less clean cars in the north than in the hot states so maybe an Ohio car will bring more than an Az car for instance.
Anyways good luck with the sale. A number of people have made a point of reminding this board when they sold their car for a price that we told them was higher than they could hope for.
