If it's a manual transmission and an 89 it will be a six speed. The hardtop was first available as an option in 89 but there are kits for 1986-1988 models to adapt the hardtop.
I owned an 89 convertible for 12 years. I'd still have it but I had to let it go after I retired from the USAF. The seats are different from an 88. Look at the area between the seatback and the headrest. There should be a about a 1 inch bead between them.
Considering what you wrote in your previous post, especially considering the car was so new when your family members owned it It's very unlikely they swapped late model rims for late model rims. Given that it has the '89 dash I bet it was a '89.
If you could get a copy of your uncles will that might list the VIN # of the car which would greatly increase the chances of finding it.

I didn't think you guys were referring to the tagger as grafitti! I knoew what that meant. I thought it was another word used for something else! That neigborhood is not he greatest for the City of Buffalo. My uncle never had issues though...
