George,

I just posted my replacement experience. Look at http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=159296

The best thing to do is to get the video tape I used. Makes instructions unnecessary.

FR-

What was the final cost? I think you estimated about a grand a few weeks back... Worth it? I hate the plastic window but the extra bucks may force me back into it! Congrats!

George,

Let's see, here is the major expenses:

Stayfast Top with Glass - $459
Required Weatherstrip - $173
Retro Kit - $117
Release Agent - $8
Adheasive - $15
Installation Video $27

So you should be able to get away with $800.

I had an additional cost of Windshield WS (Not required, just worn) $170 and a couple of peices of WS that I really did not need for about $60.

Was it worth it, well yes - I think so. I got an estimate for $1400 that included only one new peice of weatherstrip.

You need to ask me again after it rains so I can see how many leaks I have. The main positive points are:

1. The car looks so much better with a black top than the stupid original white top.
2. I can clearly see out the back window.
3. I don't have any stains or tears like the old top.
4. I have a functional defroster, although I admit that in Florida I don't need one very often.

If I had it to do, I would replace the 92-93 top with a 94-96 top also (glass window).

Only replace it with glass window if you plan on keeping it a while, same with the color.

If you plan on selling it soon, keep it original w/ white and plastic.

But I would rather have black/glass anyday. It is just that there are alot of enthusiasts that will take your arm and leg for changing it up on the resale value. But then again... who in their right mind would sell a C4? :D
