Default Lowering a 91?

How do you lower a car with a leaf spring? There is a kit for around $40 from Zip, just wondering how it works and how hard to install it is... also any other recomendations? and/or pics of that recommendation on car or web link

PS car has the Z07 package

okay ill do that, im guessing there is alot on the topic there already

(edit) Holly Crap, you werent kidding, and the whole thing looks really terrible to do, id want to lower just the front for that raked look, but that seems like the hard part, it might be easier with a lift at school

Indeed the rear takes only two bolts & nylock nuts to drop in about 1/2hr; the front requires removing the spring and will be a "tad" more complex...

I suggest you get the full kit, drop the rear and see how you like the look. You can then decide do the work to drop the front or not.

That's what I did. I was also hoping I could install the front kit myself...I wasn't comfortable in jacking the car up 6 feet in the air and don't have access to a lift so I let my shop do it, but I did the rear first then brought them the car for the front. Just $150 to install the front spacers. So for just $200 you can drop the whole car....sure was a lot cheaper than it was to drop my truck.

$200.00 to drop the whole car? that sounds like a hell of a deal to me! did a local tire shop or somthing like that do it? i would rather pay $200 to have somone do mine at this point, instead of getting in trouble for working on the vette after work and on the weekends from my co-habitational spouse...

My spring was nowhere NEAR coming out with the car up 2 feet.

It's pretty much a 'take the suspension completely apart' deal to get the spring out/in.
A good time to clean/polish everything up.

I ended up getting a new spring from VB&P after a LOT of work with cutting spring mounts and messing around with lowering kits for the front.
Took the front spring out/in about 4 times without getting the results I wanted.
Now, I have no 'lowering kit' on it, just a spring that has the same rate as the original spring but without all the 'bow'.

That's why after several 'tries' I called VB&P and got them to send me a spring.

It was a one shot after that. Out and In and it was lowered.

I know other folks got their lowered with the 'wedges' but they didn't work for me.
Cutting the rubber mounts off the original spring was a major undertaking too. A RPITA.

I just saw you're from Jennings,La.

my struggle was tightening the spring retainer bolts, they wanted to spin and I had to dislocate a few joints to be able to get in there to hold backup If you fly down to Jennings again look me up maybe we can have a few Go Saints
