Headlight on but not opening

Headlight on but not opening
I have an 84 that has had the headlight gears converted to the brass upgrades several years ago. But now the driver's side light will come on but not open. Occasionally I'll hit a bump and pop, it opens up. Could this still be something with the gears or do we have an electrical issue somewhere?

it sounds like a loose wire, when you hit the bump it connects and opens...
or, it could be sticking. open and close it a few times using the **** beside the lights. i would do this first

First check the plug as suggested by another poster. If that's not it, get a points file and a piece of fine emery paper. Disassemble the headlight motor and clean off the commutator with the emory paper. File the 2 sets of contacts...bet they're pitted if you look close. Filing those contact sets fixed mine when it was doing what you describe.

Thanks everyone. I worked the wires and it is now working again. So I probably need to do everything recommended. Again, thanks for the help. Now on to the antenna. What's the best path to follow to get to the antenna?
