188, I think. The error grows as speed climbs. At 188, I suspect the car is doing a touch over 170.

Doesn't it depend on the CCM? 0-187 for the early cars and 0-254 for the later cars?

I'm not sure. Every time I hit 88, I go back in time.

So, what are you saying? The faster you go the more non-linier the speedometer is? Is is off as much for the newer C4's (1996)?

He may be saying the "gap" grows rather the error is non-linear.

What I'm wondering is, for a newer C4 like my 1996, how does this CCM effect what I'm seeing on the speedo? How far off is it on this year if different from the earlier years? if any.

Sorry but I'm not feeling like I know what you just told me.
Are you saying that the speedo like in my 1996 has a limit of 255 mph?
Not trying to kill a dead horse here.......

No. 1989 and earlier dash clusters were 255.
Later dash clusters were more

This driver is in SS class and probably was going just over 200 when he passed our control location. That was at the Pony Express 130 in Battle Mountain, NV, last August. That ORR event is 130 miles long and the fastest group of cars/drivers will complete the trip with average speeds nearing 190 mph. It's a sport that's not for those with weak bladders. In ORR, the highway is secured during race times and with all the precautions, safety eq and support services, ie, EMTs, police, firemen, observation planes etc, it's probably safer than driving to your local grocery store. Imagine traveling one mile every 18 seconds for 29 min straight!
