83 Corvette

The reason was they couldn't get the car certified in time for the '83 model year, so when they finally started production, they were all '84 models which I believe started in March of '83.
There were a bit over 40 made and all were crushed except for the one complete car at Bowling Green(interesting story behind how it was saved) and a half of one that used to hang at the entrance to the Bowling Green Plant. That one is now in storage(the 1/2 one).
The complete one is on display at the NCM.

Go see what he actually saying about this '83
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
"IMHO, there are very few 'correct' '84 Corvettes left at this time as 95% are JUNKERS, with the 'Cross-Fire' screwed up or 'deleted'."
Ok! Let's see all your 'junkers!
<------ Mine's over there!

It is not a 1983 car. The 10th digit of the VIN (the letter "E") shows it to be an 1984 car; it's an early one with the 000521 production number, but otherwise it's not that special. And with all of the mods he has done to it, it pretty much screws the car out of being what would have been an very nice NCRS car.
I would like to know how he can confirm it was the first C4 on the West Coast with a glass top and the first gold metallic car on the West Coast. Seeing as how 5% of the 84's were Gold Metallic, it's entirely possible that there may have been another gold car out west. And with over 15K glass tops ordered for the 84 production run, there is a pretty good chance that some of the 500 prior cars may have had glass tops.
I was at Laguna Seca in '02 for the week of the Historics and the Monterey Del Oro 50th Anniversary celebration and I don't recall any hoohaa about this car. Nothing in my 115-page Historics program about it either.
He added some "qualifiers" to his ad today and it looks like people took him to task about what he originally said about the car. Most of the ad was something you would hear from a used car salesman.....

What a load of
RE: Steering Wheel Cover: That's the very rare skin of a Cape Buffalo that was only available on the tip of Africa back in 1983.
Only the very first 83 Vettes produced were equipped with this option, as later in the production run, the Cape Buffalo's were placed on the endangered species list.
This is a VERY RARE option.
The special window glass of this rare 1983 Corvette was made from sand imported from the deserts of Arabia. This made the glass extremely clear and increased safety of these high performance cars by allowing the driver to see obstacles at tremendous distances compared to 'regular' automotive glass.
This was a ONE YEAR only option available on the 1983 Corvettes ONLY.
Records show THIS 1983 Corvette S/N 000521 had this special glass installed in the front and back as well as BOTH side windows.

A: Hi , Thank You for your questions. 1) Inside handle pull mechansim is T- bar shaped, black, apparently anodized alloy. 2) Underhood wheel well weather stripping starts at wheel wells front and covers front fenders stopping at fender reinforcement pillar just forward of hood latch & catch bolt bracket. 3) )Yes, side reveal moldings have the characteristic 83.5 black plastic- covered 'half moon' retainer clips. Charles Darwin woould be pleased. Very erudite.
