Is a 1984 corvette with a rebuildable title be worth 6,000.?It was redone in 1997 and is super sharp.Everything works and you could never tell it.It took a hit in the back.automatic,90,000 miles, new tires.
Wouldn't even consider it. For similar money you could buy a 85 without the rebuild title and without the crossfire. Selling a car with a rebuilt title ain't easy
and you're concerned over it just as everyone else will be when you sell it.
I wouldn't, but I already have a vette. JD pretty well summed up the negatives. On the other hand, if you're looking for a starter vette, and you don't mind possibly losing a couple grand down the road, and it is in VERY good condition, and there are not alot of vettes in your area.......
Run away from that very fast!
Early C4's are a dime a dozen with a clean title, and possibly lower miles. Don't put yourself in a position that you're going to regret (and you will). If you decide that you don't like this car, you'll have to give it away. Just take your time, and have a little patience. The good deals are out there, especially now, if you'll just take a little time to do the legwork.

I guess I'd take a slightly different view. I agree with the patience argument, and $6K is too much. But, if you really like this car, use the salvage title to your advantage.
1. If you would have to "give it away" then presumably so must the current seller
2. If you are sure that the reason for the salvage title is correct then there is nothing inherently different in this car than any other well-preserved '84.
3. Offer them a low price (using the salvage title rationale) and see what happens.
If mine had a salvage title due to body damage, and I could have bought it a few grand cheaper on that basis, then the fact that eventually I'd have to sell it for a few grand less would not bother me at all.

Salvage title hurts mainly because it's hard to finance one. Most insurance companies don't care, but WILLl deduct for it on total claims. I've driven them for years with no problems. They are a good way to save money (less when you sell, but less when you buy = more money in your pocket while you have it). There are ALOT of regular title cars with alot more damage history than a majority of salvage cars. JMEx.
