Just wondered if anyone has a photo or has designed a small trailer for towing thier luggage. Were planning a trip this summer. Would like to have some clothes with,,lol. and her stuff. Not any storage in the vert. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.
U-Haul has a neat little tear-drop shaped trailer that you cold rent. It's no higher than the rear deck of the Vette and it should provide more than enough room.
It's called the Sport Trailer: http://www.uhaul.com/trailers/ While the $20 per day price is steep from the U-Haul stores, you might try to find one at self-storage facilities that have U-Haul rentals. They are typically cheaper at those places compared to the U-Haul stores.
Here are a couple pics a luggage trailer that belongs to a local guy. He pulls it with his 2004 C5. He had just had it painted to match his Dark Metalic Red Vert. It has a hinged top, but it is not in the photo.
You can buy a Cargo Carrier from Sears and mount it on a triler frame like the one above. That is what I plan on doing, and painting it Polo Green to match my Vette.
Here is another option offered by Corvette America. It mounts on a rear luggage rack.
They also have a luggage carrier that mounts into a typcal Reese hitch. It's like a big basket.
Actually, building your own cargo trailer is not a bad idea.
Harbor Freight has a small 4'x3' trailer frame that occasionally goes on sale for about $175 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=90153 I have this one for my autocross tires and it tows very well behind my 87. The 12" wheels are better for freeway speeds compared to the HF trailer with the 8" wheels. This one has a 1000lb capacity so it will be more than enough for luggage for two people.
Add a car top luggage carrier and you have a nice little trailer for long trips.
Think I saw one of these motorcycle trailers painted same color as a c4 and finished with Vette like tail lights on rear. Really looked really great http://3aweb.com/taxi/
Also a few years ago an outfit in SoCal area also made one similat to these with more "Vette Like" emblems lights etc. Havn't seen anything of them in last couple years. Any of you in So Cal know anything about this company?
BUT, at $2400-$3000 I could quickly learn to like the looks the U-Haul sports trailer for no more than I'd use one.
