Default Headlight issues

I noticed the last 3 times I turned on my headlights the left side light struggled to turn into the on postion. Tonight it would not come around completely. I turned the lights off and back on and it open like it should. Any advice on what may be causing this and any suggestions on how to trouble shoot where the problem is?

The headlight gear box bushings are probably shot. They disintegrate over the years. An easy and cheap fix.

I saved some money and got the correct size bushings at the local True Value for under $1.00! Home Depot and Lowes also have the correct size.

i don't think the 84 - 87 lights had bushings. i just had to replace mine due to a busted limit switch on the motor (motor continued to turn after headlight was open). cost was about 100 bucks for a remanufactured on ebay. 88-96 problems are usually bushings and very inexpensive to fix.

inexpensive....yes. you probably only need the bushings (3 of them) , not the gear. I bought the gear also anyway because I didn't want to have the whole thing apart only to find out that I needed it. I wouldn't say the repair is easy but take your time and you can do it.

I tried the links again and you are correct - they are dead.

Try these:

Maybe they will work for you. They were okay a few minutes ago!
