Our Corvette is *technically* my wife's car (DD). She LOVES the auto, and looks better in the car than I do.

I don't know why Corvette has failed to get the attention of younger guys. They can't afford them new, but that never stopped teenager from dreaming about hotrods and then buying them used 15 years later.

Maybe the lack of advertising. The only exposure most get to the Corvette is an old guy tooling around town slowly in one.

This is why I try my best to drive like an aggressive ahole, hoping that some young kids will be impressed, and want one. That is, if I don't accidently run them off the road and kill them first.

The kids ( twenty somethings ) I saw today at the alarm shop liked em lowered w/Lambo doors and earth rattleing bass speakers. Just tell them you can fit a pretty good sized bass box in the back of a coupe. Boom, Bap, Bap, Boom. Bap, Bap, Boom. That ought to hook them.

I was looking for a 6speed, and I came across an auto at the right price. I do not regret buying it for one minute. We have a Miata 6 speed and I love it, and I am sure I would love a manual Vette, but with that much HP I can still have fun. I am sure some day I will find the right Vette in a manual that I have to have.

These are old cars folks, when you're looking for one condition is everything. I bought the nicest one I could find. I was more concerned with the condition of the car than what transmission was in it.
I would have been happy with either.

Because I wanted one, and if you want to call me a girl....well fine, but I have just as much fun in this one as you do in yours'. And I don't have to insult people in the process.

Default Is this a trick question or just an attempt to stir up crap?

Who can really be a Vette enthusiast and come here and ask that stupid question? So basically you are saying 1) that girls can't drive, 2) if you are a guy and drive an A4 you must not be masculine enough to drive a stick 3) insinuating that the only reason to own a Vette is if it is an MN6, 4) you can only enjoy the driving experience if it is an MN6. And by your own admission you are pretty damn young so that makes you a world of information that we as Corvette enthusiasts should listen to for advice. I would have to say the biggest reason I drive an A4 corvette is because I can. When you pay for it then you or anyone else can dictate what I drive. I have 2 vettes that are both A4s and I don't hesitate to drive them in DFW traffic, which sucks big time. I do have a stick that I drive but you won't catch me driving my Viper in stop and go traffic! As for driving a stick, I love it!! In fact my next Corvette, a C6 Z06, of course will be a stick. But do you think I would open my mouth and say something so stupid and self centered as what you said in your post? Heck no. I'll bet you money that there are many women who are better drivers than you so where does that put you in the driving scheme? You know there isn't a nice way to say other than you appear to be a person ( ) trying to stir up crap. I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt and blame it on your age but then that would be an insult to some of our younger members. You may want to develop your inter-personal skills so as to be able to ask people questions and realize who you are going to offend. I'm not ******* you for how you feel about driving a stick. I love shifting gears but before you make assumptions you should think about what you are asking or saying. Anyway, I guess you are just excited with your car and your excitement just got the better of you. I will say this about driving a stick, I told my wife that all of my future sports cars will be sticks. On those days that I have to drive in traffic I will just drive one of the autos we have or else one of the SUVs. Anyway, sorry if I came off rude and crude.

I applaud the above response. Right on the money.
The reason mine is an auto is because I also have a bum left leg. I guess that makes me a girlie man.
One of the reasons I have considered a C5 or C6 is because of the nearly effortless clutch. If you like a stick, but have trouble with a clutch, try one out once. You will be amazed at the ease of operation.

You can shift an auto just as you can shift a manual. If you are good enough with the timing, you can still tap throttle to smooth the downshifts too. If youve got a 94 or later, you can make the auto shift gears at any time you want it to by adjusting the shift points (in a MPH vs. TPS% arrangement).
