I see replica wheels like this on ebay all the time. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/17-11...QQcmdZViewItem
They seem like an incredible deal. They look just like grand sports, but only cost about $100 bucks a wheel. Is this too good to be true? Or is it real? What does the forum think?
I bought a set of ZR1 reproductions a little over a year ago.
They're chrome, and so far they are holding up good, but I only drive 1000 - 1500 miles a year.
I got mine in a package deal from AFS; wheels, tires, lugs - mounted and balanced. Delivered to my door for $1400.00 plus change total.
I'd guess these ebay guys are selling cheaper than what I could get locally, because they by in large quantities. These wheels come from Asia (probably China), but they sure do look good.

Thats OE Wheels in Sarasota you posted the link for... I bought my chrome C6 Z-06 replicas from them and couldnt be happier especially for the price i paid. I actually picked them up from their warehouse/store since it was only 60 miles away and Ive never seen so many wheels in one place im talking thousands of sets of wheels... You can rest assured when ordering from them.
Thanks guys, especially Brian9. You've made up my mind. I've got to buy some Grand Sport wheels. Even though I probably won't order them for a while as I don't have the extra cash, I'm getting excited just thinking about it.

Good Luck and make sure to post pics when you get them. Also keep in mind that OE isnt the only low priced wheel place around you also have places like Tomzwheels.com and a couple of others. But I got what I was looking for at a price i couldnt beat getting mine from OE. Take care,

carriker, like brian said you should check out Tomzwheels.com.they are in Texas and might save you some $ on the shipping!
The wheels look great. The only thing I don't like about the replica wheels is that the 17x11 wheels don't have the deep center section as the real GS and early AFS wheels had.

Amen! I was lucky and got AFS silver 17x11s to match my OEM CE wheels. They are really nice. Other displeasures about more recent wheels is the flatish faces on the spokes and occasional lack of the thin cut rim. The older ones have curved faces just like the OEMs. Too bad the aftermarket wheel guys can't get things right.

Reason: spelling
So do the 17X11's stick out as far as the GS wheels or will they be further under the car?
Thee offset is the same so they will fit just as a GS wheel would. The center portion of the wheel is just a slightly different design. I'll try to find you a picture.
I puchased the same GS black wheels for a little over $500 shipped. So $429 is a good price. Please be aware though that the paint job on the black wheels may not perfect. If you look really close at my wheels you can see some areas where they failed to spray enough paint on them. This was on the inside of the wheels just past the outer rim. Not bad enough for me to send them back or cry about it. I've purchased wheels liek this before thru other channels, they are normally referred to as "Blems".
I'm sure the company will work with you if you are not happy with the purchase.
Also keep in mind the OE Wheels 17x11 has a deeper dish/lip compared to real GM grand sport 17x11 wheels. You can see that in the second pic( the deeper rim/lip). The front wheels have the same depth as real GM wheels.
This has been pointed out by some other corvette owners....oh cry my a river like i care. LOL
I use to own real GM grand sport wheels. There was no difference in handling at autocross events. I sold those wheel partly cause i needed the money and party because I did not want to deal with replacing any of them if I damaged one or two. The real GS wheels are not cheap and are hard to find.
Not worth if since OE wheels make basically the same wheel.
