I'm planning already. I'm pretty close to closing a deal for an '87. I'm not a big fan of the stock '87 wheels. They're in good shape, but not a big fan, are they worth anything? What would it cost me to replace them with some '89 wheels, or maybe even some '92 sawblades?

for starters, you'll need wheel adapters to use 88 and up wheels on that 87. 84's thru 87's have a different offset than 88's thru 96's. i'm not a big fan of wheel adapters - too many lug nuts to torque. as part of periodic maintenance, one should check the lug nut torque, especially on aluminum wheels. i have an 85, and i went with aftermarket repo's made by AFS that have the correct offset. just some food for thought - BTW, i check the lug nut torque on my corvettes about once a month.

Thanks for the good advice. That makes complete sense to me. Do the old wheels have any value, or does everyone think they're ugly, (like I do)?
As to their value, I have seen them on ebay for around $250.00 ea. These were not in very good shape though. I personally love them. But that is just my opinion.

Your opinion is as good as mine. That's what I was trying to figure out, do other people like those wheels. Heck, if we all like the same stuff, there'd only be one model vette in one color.

That seems like alot of money for those wheels. $250 each? There have been forum members on here selling those rims in excellent condition for under $500.

I'll sell mine with weather cracked tires for $400.00.
Here they are on my Blazer;
I went with the AFS 17" repos also, bought them in a package mounted and balanced.
Check ebay for "84-87 corvette wheels". You'll get quite a few hits.
The factory 87 wheels are OK in my opinion. I no longer have them on my 87 coupe however. I went with a "ZR-1 type" aftermarket chrome wheel. They are 17" as opposed to the stock 16" wheel made for the early Corvettes. The lug offset is correct so there was no need for an adapter. IMO they change the whole look of the car. As for the stock wheels, anyone who is putting a 84 - 87 vette back to original will always be looking for them so they will usually be worth something. Especially if they are in good shape.
i love the style of the wheels.... but i didnt really like the polished finish with coloured centre (black for 85 grey for 87).
in my opinion you should just paint the all one colour, they look much better than the polished stock wheels
here are my 87's after a wheel paint was applied

- about 5 years ago, i picked up a set of 87 wheels in very good condition at corvettes at carlisle for $150 - center caps and all. anyone want to pay me $250 each for them?
If you're going to replace your stock rims I would upgrade away from the 80's stock wheels including the sawblades. I would prefer the zr1 wheels, c5 wheels or something unique. Just my personal opinion as I am in the same search mode for wheels.
