I have a 1992 Corvette, I bought this past summer with 28K on it. It is an auto with Polo/Tan, in excellent shape, and has every option on it. I bought it for $12,600. The issue is I am afraid to drive it and put miles on it. Is there a safe mile range I need to stay within or should I just sell it and get a higher milage car? Any information would greatly be appreciated

Even if I had the money, I wouldn't be a car collector. If I own it, I want to drive it. If I don't drive it, I don't need to own it.
If you drive it, and it makes you happy, then do what makes you happy! In the grand scheme of things, $12.6k isn't that much money. If you drove it and put 80k miles on it in the next couple years, it would still be worth $8k-$9k.
Drive it, or sell it... do what makes you happy, life is to short to worry about the small stuff.

I would drive it like ya stole it . Lets say U put 50,000 or 75,000 miles on it this year ( I know U wouldn't but for example reason we'll say U did ) . Then your car would have between 75,000 and 100,000 miles on it . If you we're to sell it with that many miles on it I would bet U would still get between 10,000.00 and 11,000.00 for it . So U got to drive the hell out of it for that many miles and it only cost U a grand or 2 to do it . To me its a no brainer I would enjoy the car for all its worth .
We're U from ? With your name I was wondering if it was Vermont ? If u fill out your profile U might be better off .
I think it will be a long time before C4's will start to appreciate in value,
they are high production like all of the later gererations are so there are plenty out there. yes a low mileage nice condition wil allways bring a premium price but if you just parked that car for 5 years I bet you would not get any more money than what you paid for it. now what fun would that have been. drive it thats what corvette's are for.
This is a question we get quite often here on the Forum. It all depends on why you bought your Vette to begin with. Is it as an investment??? Are you planning on selling her later for a profit??? Are you intending on keeping her for at least the near future ...and did you buy the Vette to DRIVE and ENJOY???
Aside from its low mileage and that it is in excellent shape....its not like its a Grand Sport , Anniversary edition or a ZR1.... (I don't say this to belittle your Vette or take away from its Value in any way.) so don't worry about driving her. I assume she is not your daily driver right???
I say that if you bought a Vette because you always wanted one...to drive, maybe Show & Go.... then enjoy her. Do your part in keeping the depreciation to a minimum by properly cleaning her inside & out and maintaining her.
I mean I understand your worry about racking up the Mileage on a low Mileage Mint condition 92.....I hear that little Voice in my head with my Vette also...but I remember that I bought My 87 to drive.... and share with others.....at shows . She's not worth anything really money wise...just relative to other 87's she may be worth more....but then again I see plenty at shows that put my mine to shame. Thats how I deal with this dilemma of driving my Vette "too much" Hope I could help.
Why did you buy car if you don't intend on driving it? I have a 92 Polo Green and love it. Insurance and registration are peanuts. Its cheap to own. You got a great deal on your car.

Drive it and enjoy it. Its not a collectors car its meant to be driven Im with MOJO id offer you 10K all day long just for a decent daily driver. Goldcylon Enjoy it!!!
Does anyone have any ideas how much my car might be worth?
A vert with that mileage and condition? About what you paid for it or maybe a bit less on the market. Once you start driving it and realizing how much fun per dollar? Probably more (to you).
I strongly agree with the majority -- it will not cost you very much at all per mile to drive it so have fun.
I'm on my third Corvette now. The first one, I sold at 130k. The second, I sold at 80k.
My third, the '94 I have now, has 110k and climbing. It runs like a top. I got it with 72k on it. Initially, I was worried about racking up the miles on it, and one day I woke up and realized that was silly.
Now, I drive it every day that there's not snow on the ground, I enjoy driving it immensely, and I plan to drive it into the ground, and when things start to break, I'll rebuild it and do it all over again.
I say you drive it and enjoy it! Otherwise, sell it to one of us, and we will do just that.
Just like the previous poster said: Who are you saving it for??? Now if you had a child you bought it for and he can't drive it for another 10 or 15 years then you should be judicious about mileage. Otherwise, I would just enjoy it and take a few trips in it. I have an '02 vert/6spd which I bought in Jul '04 with only 4007 miles on it at that time. It now has a little over 20K on it. Less than a year after I bought the '02 I was diagnosed with tongue and throat cancer and was given a 25% chance of survival for 5 years. That diagnosis in itself gave me a totally different perspective about putting mileage on my Vette. Don't get me wrong, I don't just drive my car all the time but I no longer think twice if I decide I want to take the Vette on a long trip or just get in it to cruise around on a pretty Saturday. After I was diagnosed I decided I was going to enjoy my Vette during whatever time I had left so I drove it with the top down almost 75 miles per day to and from my twice daily radiation treatments. That at least helped return my case of Perma-grin. My treatments went well and lots of prayers were answered and I have been in remission for over a year now. Do I look back on all those miles I put on my car during that time as a waste? Never!!!
Like others have stated you will always have a low mileage car compared to others built in 1992. Take good care of it and enjoy driving it and showing it at car shows.
Drive it. I bought my 96 vert last year with 41,000 miles on it. Now a year later it has 42,228 on it, so I do not drive it as much as others on the forum do, but I did buy mine as a weekend/night out with the wife and car show kind of thing. I did not buy it as an investment as I know with the amount of C4's out their my car will not increase in value anytime in the near future. I will drive it but at a rate of between 2,000 - 4,000 miles per year. I do spend alot of time cleaning and detailing the vert, but that is part of the reason I bought it, its kind of a stress release for me as I have a high stress job and its nice to spend time in the garage just tinkering with it. Drive it, shine it, look at it and enjoy it.
